Day 26-30 Day Coloring Challenge

Hi Friends!

How are you?

The 30 Day Coloring Challenge has ended. I could not post my last entries, though I did finish them. My mother was unwell and I didn't get time to post though my entries.

Now my mom is getting better, so I just have a few minutes to post this:

This was the stamp I used.

I stamped with black ink onto Ivory White card stock. You can see that the stamping was not perfect. So I corrected it with a black ink micro tipped pen.

I have used pencils for coloring the bigger flower and the leaves.

I used chalks to color the smaller flowers.Since the image looked too disjointed and bare, I added a few leaves and berries with pen and colored with pencils. Then I stamped a tiny butterfly and colored with pencils.

So this is the final image. Do you think this is OK? Do I still need to add some more foliage? What do you say?

I have kept these images to be used later in my crafts.

I still need to master coloring with pencils and chalk.

Hope you like them.

Day 25-30 day Coloring Challenge

This was my attempt for Day 25

I have used a stamp, a small one with three flowers and leaves. I stamped it with black ink on Ivory White card stock.

I used color pencils for coloring.

Here I stamped it three times. You can in one of the images, since the stamping was not proper, I outlined it with black ink. The outline looks much thicker. That is why, I have not outlined the rest of the images. I used this for practicing.

Then, I stamped again separately four  images. I did not use masking technique.

After coloring, I thought, I wanted to add on to it, as the images were not looking connected. So I added the leaves, buds, the stalks at the bottom-drew them by hand and made it into a bunch.

Then I colored them, added a ribbon and colored it.

So, this is the final bouquet. What do you think?

Day 23-30 Day Coloring Challenge

This is the same image I used in my earlier post. I used color pencils for coloring. I think this one is better than the previous one.

I am yet to use all these images in my crafts. i am just coloring them for this challenge.

Well what do you think about my efforts?

Day 22-30 Day Coloring Challenge

Here is my coloring for the day.

I have chosen the same small motif. I have stamped it on Ivory white card stock using black ink.

I wanted to try the brush pens. I have absolutely no idea about them. So I thought, I would try them out. I have used Camilin Pens.

This was my first attempt. I used a dark colour. If you look at it closely, there are some areas which were not covered.

This is my second attempt where I tried shading. Again there are some areas which were not covered properly.

I am yet to gain mastery, at least of some sort over this medium. Used to holding brushes, I find it a bit cumbersome holding these pens since they are much thicker and the tip is brush like. So I had to struggle for getting control over the tip. As of now, I prefer brushes.

But one thing about these pens is that there is no mess of mixing various colours for painting and every time you mix, the shade or tint may vary. So these pens save us a lot of time and energy.

I need to work with these pens. The colours are beautiful. I think I need to experiment with a different paper as base-may be water color paper ?

What do you say?

Day 21-30 Day Coloring Challenge

Hi Friends!

I have stamped the image using black ink and used color pencils for coloring. I think its is OK but I am not satisfied especially with the background. I need a lot of practice.

What is your opinion?

Day 19-30 Day Coloring Challenge

Friends, here is may creation for Day 19.

I have embossed a piece of ivory white card stock using Fancy Lattice die from Spellbinders. That is the top layer you can see above. I have glued the embossed layer onto a folded white card stock with pink mat(or is it a layer?).

Then I colored it using chalks with help of Q-tips.  I have used all the four shades. This is the first time I am using these chalks. It was easy to apply as the area I was working on was quite big, without any boundaries like in that of an image.

You can see the die and the chalks. I love this die. It is really beautiful.

This is how it looked.  I did not know that I had to use a fixative so that the calk does not rub off.

Can any one tell me whether any such fixatives are available in India?

I have only two sets of these chalks, one is pink and the other is blue(4 shades each). I searched for them but couldn't find anywhere. Where can I find a complete set of these chalks please.

Can you please send me the details to my mail or leave it in comment section please?

I have just left this card as it is. It needs finishing touches. I will take it up later, as at present, I just don't have time to do anything else.

Watch out for more...

Day -17-30 Day Coloring Challenge

Hello there!

Sorry, I have been busy.  Me and my students are well into our revision for the final exams next month.

My net is still slow and on and off.

The day temperatures are rising and it is too very hot, considering it is still winter till March first week. I have to take care of my plants as it is like mid summer. It is that hot.

Because of my slow internet, I am unable to edit my images and post frequently.

Any way here is my effort for Day-17.

I am trying various coloring mediums to just see which ones come out better.

Here is the same motif, which I used previously. This was stamped on white ivory card stock using black pigment ink.

I used fine line marker pens-0.4mm point. I wanted to see how it would look. Obviously these pens are meant for drawing or detailing and not coloring.

It was difficult to achieve any shading with these pens as they were fine tipped. May be I don't know how to work with them yet. I did try in the second row of petals and also the leaves but I am not satisfied with the result.

I had to draw lines very closely to color each petal and by the time, I finished, the top layer of the card stock , was peeled off. :).

If you touch the surface, you can feel the rough texture.

May be I should have just filled up the motif with fine lines instead of trying to color it. What do you say?

I definitely need to work with these pens to get a feel of them.

Here is a closer look. I did not like the way it turned out.

Any suggestions on this?

Well the challenge is coming to an end. so I need to post my images quickly. Just watch out for more.

Day-15-30 Day Coloring Challenge

Hi Friends!

Posting after long time. Sorry I have been busy. My niece and some of my students are writing pre-finals of the school final exam. The finals will be board exam in March. This is crucial for them and me as this is the basis on which they get the +2 admissions in colleges. Students of other classes are also preparing for their finals.

Teaching Maths is always a challenge. No matter how much hard work I do as a teacher and also by the students, the students have this block in their minds against Maths. They perform so well here but in the exam due to some silly mistakes, they loose some marks.

Still I made some time for experimenting with various coloring techniques. This is what I actually wanted to do in the first place - to try out various techniques of coloring and also mediums.

I also had problem with my Internet. I have to take the photos of my work and edit it before posting on my blog. This does take some time.Actually this part is where I procrastinate ll the time. Because of this, I could not upload daily.

So I thought I would jump onto Day 15 directly.

I have limited my self to do very small motifs, as I cannot hold anything in my hand for more than a minute and it takes a long time for me to colour even these motives. But still I want to try and exercise my hand as much as possible.

OK, Here it is. I have used this motif. Stamped with black ink and used colour pencils. I have stamped these motifs on white card sheet for experimenting. I may of may not finally use them in my cards or scrap-booking.

I still need to practise a lot this medium - using of colour pencils before I get it right or at least to my satisfaction. After a long time I am using this technique again.

What do you think?

I am having problem with shading the background. Any suggestions or links to tutorials in this regard is what I am hoping to hear from you.

I have seen some very beautiful entries from other artists, I was not able to comment much. But now I will take time to visit more. It is such a good learning experience for me. So much of talent and so many creative works

I will also post other days work shortly.

A Happy Hello

Hi Friends!.

This is a card I made using stamping technique. Though I have taken up paper Crafts and make Greeting Cards, I am not much into stamping yet. All the while I have been using Punch Craft and recently been using Die Cutting.

Stamping and Inking techniques - I have to experiment with and get a grip over them. As of now I am a novice in practice. Yes I do know many techniques and am itching to try them. But I am a little reluctant to using stamping technique other than for the sentiments.

One main reason is the mess. I am always in a hurry and like keep my craft materials and my crafting space neat and tidy. Cleaning out after using the inks is not  something I don't enjoy:).

I also don't have an organised craft space as of now and what space I have is really very small. Most of my supplies are organised in boxes but getting them out is real bother some.

With me not feeling well and all the health issues, it is taking lot of time to organise them

Enough of my ranting. Now I have decided to take up stamping for the Coloring Challenge.

Here is my first days work

These were the stamps, I used.

I stamped images on a piece of white card stock, using black pigment Ink. Thanks to Itsy Bitsy, one of my favorite store, which sells craft materials at such an affordable rates. And if there is a sale, the rate is much lower.

I wanted to keep it as simple as possible.

The I used color pencils, for coloring the images. Here I have used the masking technique for the banner at the center. While coloring the banner, I have used white pencil first and then pink on top of it.

Finally, after completing the coloring, I folded a pink card stock of A4 size (again from Itsy Bitsy), and then glued the stamped sheet on to it. My card was ready.

Sorry for the pictures. There was not enough light and I was in a hurry to finish off.

This is my first submit for the 30 day Coloring challenge. This is also my first linking up for any challenge in Crafts.

Please leave your comments, suggestions as this is my first attempt in stamping.

Materials Used:

  • A4 size baby pink card stock
  • Ivory white card stock piece
  • Clear Stamps
  • Black pigment Ink
  • Color Pencils
  • Glue

TAST-2019

Hello Friends!

Hope you are all doing well.

After Sankranti, I wanted to take a small break. But it got extended. So I am back now. Actually, on the academics side me and my students are in the last leg of learning for the year. So we are all concentrating on finishing of the portions and start our revisions. Thank fully I am finished up with the teaching portion though a bit later than what I actually planned at. But no problem. Now we are into our first round of revision.

Well, added to all that hectic schedules, we have a severe cold wave here. With continuous rains on the top of that, I have had some health issues. I need to strictly safe guard myself against the cold. So I am spending most of my time recovering my health.

Amidst all this, I decided to join the TAST 2019 challenge. Well the link is here:

TAST  is a challenge for embroidery, on PINTANGLE  run by Sharon Bogon a very talented  and accomplished artist in embroidery. I love her work and dedication to hand embroidery and quilting.

Actually I am a bit late in posting it here. Already four weeks have gone by. Please do visit the site and read the FAQs.

Do participate and leave me a line so that I can visit your blog/site.

There is lot to learn from this challenge. So much creativity and so many ideas.

Even if you don't participate just go through the previous works of the participants from the PINTANGLE site. There is much more on the site. Please take time to browse.

I have not yet started on the challenge. I did want to join from the first week. Any way one can jump in whenever you like and jump out. I have taken out all my embroidery materials out. It has been a long time. But I want to take it up again.

I will try to do as many as possible.

My TAST Samplers from previous years are listed out in my PAGES separately so that it is easy for you. Please do go through them.

So do watch out this space. I will be posting my TAST samplers and much more.
