Chain Rangolis are fun to draw once you master them. Yes they look a bit complex and difficult to draw in the beginning.

They are the best ones to fill large spaces with intricate patterns in a very short time. One of the advantages in these type of Rangolis is you can select a small design or block and build on the pattern either repeating the same pattern or adding other patterns.

Colouring the pattern after drawing the pattern in these type of rangolis is a bit difficult. It is better to colour the background and then draw over it. One more way is to draw the pattern using coloured powders instead of white powder.

Here is one of my creations:

15 X 15 Straight Dots

In this pattern, I have used three different types of  patterns. Each block is 5X5 straight Dots.

Floral Chariot

Hi Friends. Hope you are all busy celebrating the festival ith family and friends.

We have successfully completed our one month Dhanurmasam, offering our prayers and thanksgiving to the Lord Narayana, Sun God and Nature through our Rangolis.

Only two more days to go. Tomorrow we will draw a chariot rangoli coming into our homes, inviting the Lord  and day after tomorrow we will again draw a chariot rangoli going out as a farewell to the Lord.
This is the dot scheme. Wheels and the flag are free hand drawings.

Hope you all enjoyed my Rangolis and tried them. By God's grace, this year I could post the rangolis for the entire month.

Watch out for more posts on embroidery and crafts as this time, I am going to post many of my projects in various stages.

Wishing you all a very Happy Sankranti/Pongal/Lohri and Bihu once again. See you soon.

Antique Lamps Rangoli

23 dots-7 rows in the middle and straight dots up to 7 on either side

I remember my childhood days, when we used (kerosene) lanterns, in spite of having electricity, because of frequent power cuts especially during summers and rainy seasons. Those were big sized and were known as hurricane lanterns. During our exam season we had two to three lanterns kept ready and we did study many a time with their help.

The smaller size were known as kerosene lamps as shown in my Rangoli. They came in different sizes and we used kerosene and cotton wicks in them.

Cleaning the lamp glasses was a task for the women. But we were depended on these lamps as candles were and are still costly and could not be carried from room to room as easily. These lamps also had a provision for increasing or decreasing the flame.

So today's Rangoli features those antique lamps, now forgotten with the advent of emergency lights and torches.

Hope you like this Rangoli.
