Running Stitch-3

TAST-2012-10th Week-Running Stitch

Here are some more of my explorations of the stitch:

I could have done better because I had so many ideas. But with constant power cuts and hot weather, it is difficult to find time for my hobbies. Any ways, I will work on them and post them later....I need to go along with all other TAST participants....

TAST-2010-24th Week -Siennese Stitch-2

Friends here are some more of my experiments with Siennese Stitch. Hope you like them. I am still experimenting with the stitch. Will post as soon as I create something new.
My previous post on this stitch is here:

http://summersofindia.blogspot.com/2010/08/tast-2010-24th-week-siennese-stitch.html

And if you want to learn it then the link to Sharon B's site, who is conducting this TAST 2010 is here:

http://www.pintangle.com/journal/2010/8/10/tast-2010-week-24-siennese-stitch.html

Here I have used the glass tubes and small glass beads in shaded colours.
This looks very delicate and elegant. This can be used as border on dupattas or saris or even tunics and blouses as well as children's dresses. This is very easy to work and will be completed in no time.
So what do you think of these?  Please do leave your comments....Keep watching

TAST-2010-24th Week -Siennese Stitch

At last I am able to do it. I could not practise TAST stitches for a long time. But here I am. I am going to try and catch up with back log too.

This Stitch was very easy. So I could do a few. I am not yet satisfied with my creativity with this stitch. ZBut for now this is all I have. Here is the link to the tutorial posted by Sharon B:

Here is my trial...

I have to doodle again if time permits so that I can create some more of this stitch. Keep watching......

Butterfly Sampler

Day-10

Hi Friends. Sorry I could not post for two days now. Here it is.

I have used a ceramic bead-blue with gold lines for the body, twin coloured (blue-green) bead for the head and the flower sequins for the wings. I have used twin coloured (blue-peach) seed beads to tie them down
Hope you like it.

Butterfly Sampler

Day-9

Now here is Day-9. This time can you guess what these are made of?
These are made from sea shells, except for the head which I have stitched a crystal bead. I have used gold coloured thread for tacking them.

These shells are available in many shapes and sizes, some of them coloured too. Nice for stitching on saris, or dresses. But require careful washing and maintenance as they are easy to break.

I hope you like it.

Let me know if you have any thing to say...Keep watching my blog for I am working on few saris. The moment they are finished, I will post. The works are something new and currently in fashion here....

Butterfly Sampler

Day-8

Here I am so tired after a days hard work. Returned home late and feel tired to the bones. But Still I wanted to load Day-8 of the sampler.

These are crystals. These days these are even being used as jewellery-neck pieces, ear studs, danglers, bangles etc. So these butterflies have been stitched with crystals.

So how do you like them?  More to come, keep a watch on my blog.....

Butterfly Sampler

Day-7

Its raining here since last two or three days. Sometimes heavily but mostly drizzling. I am not keeping good health-feel feverish and very lazy.  I also feel list less and don't feel like doing anything at all. So could not work on any thing much. However, this sampler is a challenge for me and I need to put my thoughts and ideas on the cloth. So here it is Day-7.
This is Antique work-Gold. The little one-I have already posted yesterday. So it needs no explanation. The flower and the bigger butterfly have been worked out in Antique Gold work (metallic). Hope you liked them.

Do leave your comments and suggestions, if any.......Keep a watch on my blog I have some surprises for you in this sampler.....

Butterfly Sampler

Day-6

After a long week end, I am back. Its quite sultry here though raining on and off. I could not do much on my sampler, as I was busy spring cleaning some of my belongings.

Day-6 of the Sampler. Here it is.
This is antique work in gold. But this is not metallic. This is made of plastic. I have glued it. I have also tacked it with stitches but could not photograph it due to some problem with my camera. Will post it shortly.

I have still work on some more for my sampler. I think I will do some more antique work. How do you like this?

Keep a watch on blog.

Butterfly Sampler

Day-5

I have posted so far with out a break for four days. It is an achievement since, I don't have much time to spare for my hobbies. So here it is Day-5.

Here is a little one. I have used yellow leaf like Kundan for its wings.
Here I have used green leaf shaped Kundans, for its wings.
Here I have used Paisley shaped Kundans for its wings.
Here are the Three Musketeers together.

Actually while working with Kundans and creating a butter fly shape has been a challenge for me as I have to fit the available shapes to make it look like a butter fly. Hope you like them.

I need to jot down all my ideas for this sampler in some note book because suddenly, ideas flash through my mind in midst of something. Let us see I will keep a journal.

Butterfly Sampler

Day-4

Today  I feel so tired after a days hard work. I also got completely drenched in the down pour and had to wait in the traffic jam for 3 hours before I could reach home. But I had to upload this. Here is one more Butterfly-Day-4. Hope you like the Kundan Work.

I think it looks more like a Dragon Fly?   Please leave your comments or suggestions.

Butterfly Sampler

Day-3

Its Day-3. Here is one more butterfly.

It is Kundans again. This time I have used leaf like yellow Kundans for wings. But this time I wanted my butterfly to be in some action. Its bent. I should have added a flower there. But then I thought against it. I also did not want to add its legs.
I have not stitched them yet. I have glued using fabric glue. I will secure them with thread later on.
Here is a closer look.

How do you like it?  Let me know please.

Butterfly Sampler

Day-2

My head is teaming with so many possibilities and ideas of what material to be used or what stitches to be explored and so on. I need to jot them down- but I am so lazy. This is only Day-2. Here is another butterfly. Again Acrylic kundans. Hope you like it.

I have used different shapes of Kundans. I have also used whipped stem stitch for its feelers.
I have used knot stitch for its eyes.

Hope you have liked this. More to come. Keep an eye on my blog.......

Butterfly Sampler

Day 1

Butterflies...as a child I was fascinated by them. I am still fascinated. They are colourful and when ever I see one,  I feel so happy. They bring out the child in me. So I have been doodling a lot of butterflies. Sketching, painting...but did not save any. Suddenly the other day I felt why not do a sampler on Butterflies?  I just want to see how many varieties of media, or stitches or material I can use in creating them in different shapes, sizes colours......I am not sure how many I can create. So lets us see. Shall we?
Starting from today I will post one on each day (hopefully-I cannot promise) and see how many I can create. So here it is
These are made of acrylic and available in many colours and also sizes.
Here is a closer look. We can just glue it or attach them through the two holes provided. I have stitched them. It was difficult to photograph them as they were reflecting light.

This was Day 1......now watch my blog for Day 2....

TAST 2010-3Week-Beaded Hedebo Stitch

This was third weeks stitch. Beaded Hedebo Stitch. Visit Sharon B's site for the basic stitch.

http://www.pintangle.com/journal/2010/3/16/tast-2010-week-3-beaded-hedebo-edge.html

Here are my experiments with the stitch. The first one is the original as shown by Sharon.

Here I just practiced it.

Here I tried it in a zig zag fashion

Here I put it in ZigZag pattern

All in one picture.

I need to practice more. But don't have time. Already I am lagging behind and signed up for TAST I too. Look how greedy I am? LOL! Hope I can pull up my socks and get on level with the others this week end as we are going to have a long week end.

TAST-2nd Week-Knotted Loop Stitch

Here it is. My experiments with Knotted Loop Stitch.

I could only do a few due to paucity of time. The ones with green floss are the ones I tried first.
Here is a closer look at the one where I used cut glass beads.

Here I have used the round white beads in the center.

Here I have first stitched with green floss, then used yellow floss to weave in and out of the base stitches. The yellow floss is only on the surface. No need to enter into the fabric. It can be done more neatly, I dint have time to do it again.

Hope You have liked them. Please leave your comments and suggestions.

Diamond Stitch

Here is at last, my version of Diamond Stitch. I am afraid I could not practice much. But I am happy that I have attempted it at all. With working continuously 10-12 hrs a day and away from home, it was difficult for me at the end of the day to sit in the night and do this. But I am happy.

My doodling of the stitch are here directly on the cloth as you can see above. So I have made some mistakes, since I had to get the hang of it. The first ones are the two rows of the aquamarine green floss. Then I thought of adding the beads with the pink thread. Then came the purple one and the yellow. Actually I just wanted to do some more rows of the yellow floss and decorate it with beads. But just dint have the time or energy. it took me a while to grasp the stitch and establish the rhythm.

Here is a closer look.
Here I used it for couching the silk ribbon. The stitches can be put on the ribbon to attach it to the base cloth. I put the stitches out side the ribbon, so that the ribbon is not attached to the base cloth and can be changed. It would look new each time.

How about using this as a border to a sari, blouse/tunic (at the sleeves and neck) or for a skirt or for a bag or a purse? I have left the edges of the ribbon with out stitching. But the edges can be zigzagged with out touching the ground cloth, so that they don't fray. It would look good if the centers of the diamonds are decorated with beads or sequin.

I may doodle  this stitch again when I feel like. then I will again upload my pictures.

Please do leave your comments and suggestions.

2nd Week-Knotted Loop Stitch

Sharon B has posted on Knotted Loop Stitch. Visit her at the address below and see for yourself.

http://www.pintangle.com

I am yet to practise and explore it. Tonight I will do so. I have made some progress on the first one-Diamond Stitch. But sorry I am unable to load the pictures from here. I will do so this week end, since we have got a holiday making it a long week end.

By that time may be I will add some more examples to it and also, would have worked out on the second one too. I am planning to go home for this week end. Boy! I miss my family and friends there.

Keep a watch on my blog....

Week-1-Diamond Stitch

I am still practising the stitch. With so much  work to do I dont find time at all to concentrate on this. But I am enjoying what little time I find to practise this. I am unable to edit my pictures and upload here on my blog. Will try tomorrow. Keep watching friends. I am yet to see what others have done. No time for me to browse the net. Bye for now. Keep an eye on my blog......

TAST-2010

I am so excited about the TAST-2010. I have signed in for the challenge.

TAST stands for Take a stitch Tuesday by Sharon B, a great lady, a great artist. I admire her and she is my source of inspiration. Well every Tuesday she inroduces a Stitch on her site. Any one interested in that can practise explore, improvise, experiment and post the results. To know how and where, here is her site.

The first stitch posted on this Tuesday was Diamond Stitch. Its a nice stitch. I am still playing with it. Since I am away from home, I had to buy all the basic stuff like the cloth, frame, needles, threads etc. So, since I don't have all my stash with me, I cannot experiment much. But with in my limits, I am trying to. I will try to post the pictures, but if not I may post them late on my blog here. I am afraid I have to do so till I go back and have access to my own computer. The main problem is compressing or sizing my photos for loading.

Any way friends, please do visit Sharon B's site and enjoy.....

Keep watching my blog too for my experiments...
