Rangoli - 401

 Flower Garden

Rangoli-401
19 to 1 straight dots

This is a simple and easy Rangoli. Floral rangolis are always beautiful and attractive. Hope you like this one.

Note: This one is my own original creation.

Most of these designs are my own original creations, which I create by spending much time and after hard work. So please don't post these photos or designs (even if you draw these by your own hand) on your site or blog in any format.

Please link back to my blog. I hope you understand this and respect my request. Thank You.

Rangoli-2018-19--1

Rangoli-343

17 dots 5 rows- straight dots till 5 dots

Lotuses and Swastika Rangoli: So here we go. This is the first one I am posting. Let us start our Dhanurmasam with this Rangoli. Lord likes lotus flowers. Swastika is symbol for auspiciousness. Lamps are lit as a symbol for illuminating our lives, bringing in wisdom, leading us towards the right path.

So on the first day-on 16th let us welcome the Lord to our homes with these flowers in the Rangoli.
Hope you like this Rangoli.

Please do remember to chant the name of your Ishtadevata while drawing the Rangoli.

Watch out for more on my blog...

Rangoli Festival 2018-19

Hello!

Friends, the pious month of Dhanurmasam starts from 16th of December. You all know that it culminates in Sankranti or Pongal celebrations.

This whole month we draw beautiful Rangolis in front of our main entrance or in the front yard before the Sun rise to welcome lord Vishnu. It is considered as a form of prayer and thanks giving to Lord Vishnu and Sun God who is also know as Pratyaksha Narayana. After all without their benevolence, all living beings cannot sustain their lives. Sun whose light and heat provide all living beings not only the life sustaining energy but also food for survival.

So as a thanks giving we offer our prayers the whole month through our Rangolis. Isn't our culture unique in celebrating the Nature and its changing seasons?

Last year I couldn't post any rangolis as I was not well. But this year I am better and so will try to post new designs. Please do try them. And if possible send me some pictures.

Alas I cannot draw such huge designs on the floor myself this year too(last year I just could draw anything at all). I will be so happy to see yours as at least through you I can reach The Lord.

I just hope I can post more than one design till Pongal. I am already creating new ones. So do join me from 14th.

Rangoli - 318

Carpet of Roses

19 to 1 straight dots. Follow the design above.

As the Sun rises in the east on this winter morning, the reds and oranges, yellows and pinks  of the morning sky is beautiful to watch through the curtains of the mist. These colours are reflected in this design.

Hope you like it.

Watch out for more in my next posts......

NOTE: These designs are my own original creations, which I create by spending much time and after hard work. So please don't post these photos or designs (even if you draw these by your own hand) on your site or blog . Please link back to my blog. I hope you understand this and respect my request. Rangoli - 317

Pumpkin Flowers and Gobbillu

15 dots- 3 rows in the center, 13, 11, 9......till 3, straight dots. You can follow the design from the picture above.

Gobbillu are cow dung shaped into balls or pyramid shape, decorated with flowers (pumkin and marigold flowers), turmeric and vermilion  and kept on the Rangolis and worshiped.

It is known as Gobbi Puja. It is done through out this month till Sankranti. They are made and worshipped daily morning and evening and each day they are patted to a wall to make cow dung cakes. Once thoroughly dried they are used as fuel. These cow dung cakes are biodegradable and cheap, made by every house in the villages. However the  Gobbi cow dung cakes are used for the sacred fire on the Rath Saptami Day when sun God is worshiped.

Gobbi as per some peoples opinion is Gowri Devi or Consort of Lord Shiva and worshipped as such by maiden girls for a good husband and good future. Some feel that Goobi means Gopis. meaning cow herd girls also known as Gopikas, Gopemma. They were known for their devotion to Lord Krishna.

So in this Rangoli, I have drawn Gobbi (cow dung balls) with marigold flowers and pumpkin flowers in between. I will write about these in detail in another post.

Watch out for more Rangolis....

So please don't post these photos or designs (even if you draw these by your own hand) on your site or blog . Please link back to my blog. I hope you understand this and respect my request. Rangoli-303

Here is a chain Rangoli.

This is 21 dots in the center, then, 19, 17, 15 dots -5 times then 5, 3, 1 -on either side.  Just look at the design and  the dot pattern will be  clear.

Start from the center or start from one of the sides and proceed to the center. This is very simple and easy but looks big enough. If you space out the dots it will be much bigger.

You can use colour powders for drawing instead of the traditional white powder since it is difficult to colour these chain Rangolis.

I drew it in haste, so it is not neat. Sorry for that.

Watch out for more........

Rangoli-279

Kartika Purnima Special

Today is Kaartika Purnima, the Full Moon in the month of Kartikam. It is very auspicious day. Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are worshiped. Today is good for spiritual sadhana or meditation.
 This is 21 dots to 1. But 13 dots is 2 times. That is 21, 19, 17, 15, 13, 13, 11, 7, 5, 3, 1.
A closer look.

Since Lord Shiva is worshipped today, I chose, Shiva Lingam, Lotuses, Bilva dalams(which are dear to Lord Shiva) and rudraksha. Hope you like it.

Light as many oil lamps as possible today in the evening, in and around your home and if possible in temples too.

I thank all my friends and family who are standing by me, praying for me in these difficult times. Thanks a lot, God Bless You all. With out all your support, it would have been very difficult for me.

However, I will try to post as much as I can. Here is one more Rangoli for you. Very simple and easy to draw.

Rangoli-230

Dhanur Maasam (when Sun enters into Dhanur Raasi or the zodiac sign of Sagittarius) starts from tomorrow. So we start our month long worship of Lord Vishnu also known as Krishna, Kesava, Narayana and many other names. One of the forms of worship is, cleaning our front yards, sprinkling the cow dung mixed in water, and then drawing beautiful Rangolis welcoming the Lord-all this before sun rise. So we get up very early in the morning, take bath and do all this chanting the Lords name.

Some special Rangolis are drawn during this entire month. These Rangolis are drawn with the help of lines or free hand and dots are not used. This is peculiar to Andhra and Tamilnadu states. Here too the Rangolis of Andhra differ from that of TamilNadu as those from Andhra depict or relate to agriculture and are drawn as thanks giving to the Sun who helps the farmers in getting a good crop. These(some) Rangolis are specially drawn during this month and are known as Nela Muggulu. They depict various crops like the paddy ears, pumkins, pathways, different animals and birds etc. Chariot or Ratham Rangolis have a special significance.

You can see the link here where I posted such Rangolis:
http://summersofindia.blogspot.in/search/label/Nela%20Muggulu

These days people unaware of all these things are drawing Rangolis using dots and also because these are easy to draw and can be filled with colours. These traditional Rangolis are on the verge of extinction.

The transit of Sun into the zodiac sign of Makara or Capricorn is celebrated as Makara Sankranti-an agricultural festival. This is a three day festival. One of the main things is drawing of Rangolis.

Ok for now I am posting Rangolis with dots. But I will a also try to post more of our traditional ones too.
15 to 1 straight dots. Join as shown.

Watch out for more new designs.......

Please drop in you suggestions, comments or queries...I would be glad to know your responses......

Rangoli-224

Diwali Special
15 to 1 straight dots, very easy and simple. If you want you can improvise as shown below:
I have only joined the dots in the center to form a square and filled it with colours. Similarly we can join other dots to get more squares and fill it with colours.

Rangoli-211

Diwali Special

Starting from this post I am going to post some Rangolis for Diwali. Every time I schedule the posts or try to post them just before the festival and something goes wrong. This time I am not going to take chances.  Any ways, it will also give you time to choose the one you like, practise it and keep it ready for Diwali.

I am posting small and easy ones more than bigger and complicated ones.

This is 9 to 1 straight dots( 9, 7, 5, 3, 1).

I have drawn diyas(lamps) and flowers and swastika depicting the spirit of Diwali. Keep watching for more......

Rangoli-183

Lotuses N Fishes

Friends it has been a long time since I posted Rangolis. Here I am posting a square one 11X11. Very simple and very easy.
Hope you like it.

Watch out for Ugadi and SriRamaNavami specials. Since Chaitra Navaratris start now and worshiping Mata Rani i.e Goddess Durga or Laitha for these 9 days is very good, we can  draw these Lotus or other Rangolis with Sri Chakra.

Keep a watch.....
