Meenakari Ear Danglers-Latest

Recently I came across some fab danglers for ears. They were so cute, elegant and reasonably priced that I could not resist my self. I am going to post them one at a time.
Here is one with blue and pink combination. Very cute. Isn't it? Watch out for more....

Pearl Necklace.

I had purchased some good quality pearls for my mom long time back. I wanted to get it made into a chain with gold wire. But somehow, I could not get it done. Now the price of gold has gone up so much that it is not affordable. So I just stringed them on a wire and fixed it to a dori. It is simple and my mom loved it. She is now able to wear them.

Well it was difficult to string them as my hand is still paining. But some how I managed it.

Bracelet

Here is a bracelet with antique finish. Studded with multi coloured stones and decorated with intricate vine patterns and roses.
The edges overlap so it can be adjusted to fit the size of our arm. Goes well with similar neck pieces, ear rings and other accessories.

Beaded Bracelet

These days beaded jewellery is in vogue. Here is a beaded braided bracelet.
 It is braided.
It has opening so the size can be adjusted. These bracelets are available in single or more than one colour combination of beads. My niece selected a multi coloured one as it will match with any dress. These are cheap enough and hit with young girls and teens.

Meenakari Ear Danglers

Look at these. Red, blue and green combination. Aren't they looking cute?

The smaller jhumki is attached to the center of the bigger jhumki.  This is one of the pair. I could not photograph both at the same time.

The design on the danglers is also contemporary and different. Ethnic but a touch of latest fashion. Isn't it?

Enamelled or Meenakari jewellery is always in fashion. Here are some ear danglers:

A combination of black and white with small pearls goes well with any dress or sari, but more so with either white or black in colour.  They are easy on our pockets too. More in my next posts

Bead Bracelet

Of late I have not been posting much especially on jewellery. I am too tired to go out into markets. Even if I go out I just manage to get the essentials. So my shopping for jewellery and bangles is getting postponed. With my left hand still in lot of pain, I am not able to do any craft, jewellery or embroidery either.

Hmm but being an artist my eyes and senses are attuned to the colour and creativity around me every where I go. I do have lots to share with you all.

Here is one bracelet I came across. It is made of light weight beads on a twisted wire. The beads look like plastic? I am not sure may be wood?
It is real cool and popular with teens and young girls and boys.

Kundan Ear Rings

Kundan Jhumkis or danglers are in fashion now. They are available in many colours.I picked up Red and Golden Yellow as they will match any silk or other brocade saris. These are looking stunning.

I also picked up blue coloured one but gave it off to my sister. I will take a snap of it if possible and post it some time. I could not lay my hands on  green set though. Before I could pick it up, some one else snooped on it ...:) :) perhaps better luck next time.

I picked up smaller ones. actually these days huge and heavy danglers in many shapes glittering with stones are in fashion. They are too heavy, meant for party wear and I don't like to look so decked up. Since they are heavy, one has to use chains to support them. So I picked up simple and small ones which also cost very less.

Watch out for more.......

Meenakari Ear Rings

Of  late I have been following the latest fads and fashions in jewellery as I am creating some pieces my self. I am really fascinated by the variety our Indian markets offer us. These range from antique designs to the most latest and modern pieces. One of them I love is Meenakari or enamelled jewellery. These are enamel paint on metal surface-not too costly but very beautiful. Here are some I just could not resist picking up:

Look at these above. They have tiny hibiscus flowers on the corners-red and blue with green leaves in the between. You can see the small pearls and the kundan drops dangling below.
This is how it looks up close.
Here is one in maroon red.

I just could not resist these beautiful ear rings. But I am yet to get matching necklace to wear with them. This always happens with me as I pick up individual pieces and try to make a set out of them. It takes a long time and patience and also a very good memory to  scour the markets, exhibitions/sales to find the pieces to make an entire set with in the budget.

Keep watchin....for I have more to share with you...so many lovely pieces...

Red Crystal Necklaces

Here are two pieces I made from Red Crystals. For that you need:

Red Crystals
Gold plated discs
Gold plated nuts( small thin discs)
Clasps (I have used chain and hook type)
Pendant
String or wire

These crystals are sold string wise either 60 or 100 per string and cost depends on this. This is smallest size and known as cut crystals as the surface has many facets. The light falling on these facets is reflected and gives it a shine. The difference between these crystals and ordinary (uncut ones) is that these look more like made of some precious stones due to their shiny surfaces. There also bigger ones and also transparent and opaque. These are available in rainbow colours. So choose according to your taste and colour preference.

The first one is very simple and does not have any pendant.
I have first stringed a gold disc then red crystal again gold disc so on till I finished with the crystals. Then I have finished off by adding the clasp.

You can add the discs one for every two or three or five beads or more than one gold disc between the beads depending on your taste and choice. it is better to string in a few crystals and gold discs in different combinations to see which one you like and then finally go for the design. You can also use gold beads, stone studded discs or beads according to your choice.

The second one I have added a simple pendant. Also I have used gold plated nuts between the beads. Near the pendant and in between I used five discs to give it a bit of rich look. Then I finished it off with adding the clasp.

Both these designs I have kept simple so that it can be worn daily or even to work. So try it out...

Lakshmi Locket Necklace

Another Lakshmi locket necklace. This time a bit different one.

I had a few sand stone beads. First I wanted to make a bracelet matching my necklaces of sand stones I made previously. But again I created this necklace. I used gold coloured beads (medium and very small) and five Lakshmi lockets. Previously I used a round shaped lockets. Now I have used elongated ones.

I had to use more gold beads in the end to give it length, as I ran out of sand stone beads. The length of this necklace is a bit bigger than choker( I have not measured it)-that is it nestles at the base of the neck. I feel that this way, the lockets can be shown off well. I am planning to create some matching ear rings to go with. Let me see. I am busy this fortnight and may not get time to indulge in my hobbies till month end.

So please do leave your comments on this creation of mine....Keep a watch more to come....

Black Beads Necklace

Black beads are worn by all married women in India. Some wear it in long chains made of gold and some short. There are different designs and lengths made in gold.

I have been wanting to create some designs in black beads for a long time. I have bought materials also but din't find time. Then I thought of creating one and gifting it my sister as she loves to wear different creations in black beads.

I have attempted a black bead creation with Lakshmi dollar in the center. This is of medium length. I made it as a gift to my sister for Varalakshmi Pooja.

I have used black beads with some gold plated beads in between and a Lakshmi locket in the center.
I first put it on Goddess VaraLakshmi for the Sravana Sukravaara pooja and then gifted it to my sister.

Please do write your comments and suggestions about my creation.

Glass Beads Necklaces

Here are two necklaces I made from Glass Beads.
I could get three colours-green, orange mixed brown and dark purple.
I have used only two gold plated discs in between the beads with both necklaces. The length is medium.
I love glass beads and may be I should have added pendants too. But at that time I din't have any thing to match these beads. I don't much like any thing especially jewellery or clothes to be loud. So I made it very simple.

Hope you like them......
