Diwali Special
Starting from this post I am going to post some Rangolis for Diwali. Every time I schedule the posts or try to post them just before the festival and something goes wrong. This time I am not going to take chances. Any ways, it will also give you time to choose the one you like, practise it and keep it ready for Diwali.
I am posting small and easy ones more than bigger and complicated ones.
This is 9 to 1 straight dots( 9, 7, 5, 3, 1).
I have drawn diyas(lamps) and flowers and swastika depicting the spirit of Diwali. Keep watching for more......

Ganesh Chaturthi Special
We are celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi on 19th of this month. Lord Ganesha-The Elephant God is one of my favorite. He is loved by children a lot. He is worshiped by children for success in education, business man for success in business, farmers for good crop before sowing. In fact He is worshiped before starting of any venture or auspicious occasion as he is the Lord who removes all obstacles and grants us success. His consorts are Sidhi (meaning accomplishment, success, perfection or spiritual power), Budhi (meaning Wisdom or intellect) and Riddhi (meaning prosperity). A man requires all these three things for a happy and peaceful life on this earth. So by worshiping Lord Ganesha one would get all these three things.
This is one festival, which I enjoy a lot since as a child. He is one God who is worshiped with 21 types of herbs which includes grass as well. He is one God who is like a child -easy to please with offering of a little jaggery, but blesses us with lots of good things. That is why He is one of my Favorite God.
Well I am going to post some Rangolis for this special occasion in this and coming posts.
Swastika is a symbol which denotes auspiciousness and is associated with Lord Ganesh. So I have used this symbol in my Rangoli.
19 dots three rows then 17, 15...till 3. Join as shown. This is very easy to draw.
Watch out for my next posts too.......

Diwali Rangolis
Diwali is fast approaching. So its time I posted some Rangolis specially for Diwali. The month starting from the next day of Diwali is known as Kartika Maasam-the month of "Kartika" when people keep fast and both in the morning and evening light lamps just like on Diwali. At least two lamps are lighted before dawn and after dawn. So these Rangolis can be drawn for the whole month. The full moon during the month is very auspicious and celebrated with great devotion.
These Diyas(lamps) can be drawn free hand. But for an easy method one can use dots. Blow are the traditional chain or melika Rangolis of lamps.
Here is a lamp with three wicks. We usually use brass lamps.
This is a lamp with five wicks. This is known as pancha(five) harathi and is used in temples or even our homes to give harathi to Gods.
These designs are very old and have been handed over generations.

Rangoli-126
Ganesh Chaturthi Special
Here are some Rangolis I am going to post for Ganesh Chaturthi. The Theme is MODAK (Hindi) or Undrallu Telugu)- a delicacy made of steamed rice semolina and split chickpea lentils. This is the most favourite of Ganesha. Without this offering our Ganesh Chaturthi is not complete. This is a very simple and easy snack, nutritious and filling. Swasthika is also associated with Lord Ganesha.
This is 6X6 block. You can add more blocks to create a bigger Rangoli.
This is 8X8 block. You can either add more of these blocks together or add above 6X6 block on all sides to create a bigger Rangoli.
