Zipper Bag

Here is a small bag. Made from sturdy jean cloth and lots of zippers with adjustable long strap. So Colorful.
Don't be mislead with so many Zippers. There are only 4 compartments. Two on one side and two on the other. All other zippers are for show.
Looks like this underside and out side.

Just enough to carry your mobile and some money. So you can use all those zippers lying around or recycle old ones and old jeans like this,
Here is another one. These are a great hit with teenagers and young ones.

Multi-Purpose Storage Bag

We women buy accessories every time we get a chance. Especially purses and bags-different sizes, shapes, colours and what not. Yes we do require them whether we are travelling, going for work or for partying. There are also bags for storage as well as for carrying jewellery, cosmetics and other things.

Here is bag, which you can use for storing, carrying your jewellery or cosmetics. You can use it carrying other things may be cheque books, cards etc? Children can carry their pencils, pens etc.
But mind you it is transparent.
It is light weight, available in different colours and not much costly.
You can just drop this bag in your tote or a bigger shoulder bag. So this is good for multipurpose storage and use.

Good as a gift too-to teenagers or our friends.

Organising my Stash-1

Hello there. Hope you are all doing well. I am slowly recovering. It will take some more time but I am feeling better than before. It is really boring to be in bed not able to do anything.

Before I became ill I was organising my stash. I have mounds and mounds of paper cuttings on different subjects-health, beauty, arts and crafts, rangoli and other designs, recipes, gardening, spiritual and many more. I also have lots of cuttings from various news papers or magazines containing some photographs, ads or designs which inspire me to create some new designs or crafts or sewing.

I started with my paper clippings ( from 1986 on wards...). All kept in a number of huge bags. It is quite a herculean task just to organise one bag. But I am through with three bags now. I am segregating them into different topics and filing in different files. But before I could finish off with the material in those three bags, I fell ill and had to stay away from them as the dust in the clippings could increase my allergy.

Now I started organising my craft supplies. First I had to sort the materials from each bag and pool all similar ones at one place. Then I have put them in the boxes.

Here is a glimpse...
Flower shaped and star shaped ones.
Leaf and square shaped discs and triangular shaped beads.
Different coloured, matte and glitter or shiny sequin in different sizes.
I have used a 35 cell box for storing sequins. The problem with this box is if it gets toppled, then everything will be a mess. I could not get a box with small containers or boxes with lid in a big box instead of this partitioned one. Well I am looking out for them.  If I can get hold of something like that, then, I can transfer all these to that container. As of now this will have to do.

Some more of my stash and storage in next posts......

Storage For Bangles-4

My previous posts on Storage solutions for bangles are here:

http://summersofindia.blogspot.in/search/label/Storage%20for%20Bangles

This time, I am showing you a leather case for storing Bangles.

This is a smaller sized one. Bigger sized(longer) and one having two rows are also available.
Inside it is padded with velvet or suede or felt. The separators (round disks you can see) are removable and one can place them as per ones needs. I feel this one is good for bangles made of gold and other precious materials. It is easy to carry in travels.

So if one is going for a marriage in some distant place, one can carry the required bangles in this case.

Remember the jewellery case I posted about in one of my previous posts?

Here it is. Bangles as well as other jewellery can also be stored and carried.

Well  that's all for now. Watch out for more in my next posts.....

Storage for Bangles-2

Since I make jewellery and also love to collect some items, I also search for storage solutions as well as containers for carrying them on travels. When it comes to bangles there are many storage solutions available, depending upon our budget, space available and also the quantity of the bangles you have. Also you can have separate boxes for bangles made of gold or precious stones and for ordinary ones which we use frequently.

Here was my previous post on storage for bangles:

Let us now see what else we have.
These are the ones made of walnut wood and available in different sizes as you can see.  These are available with Kashmiri stalls which sell products from Kashmir. They have wooden rods on both sides on which one store the bangles. The major problem is that one has to cover them with see through polythene covers, so that we can see the bangles but save them from the dust.

The one below is locally made and available with our local stores

Oh by the way many queries are pouring in as to where one can get these containers or stands. They are available with stores selling, bangles, novelties or cosmetics and other such ladies items.

Storage for Bangles

Bangles are one of the important item of jewellery for Indian women. They come in many shapes, sizes, materials and colours. I am so fond of them that i have quite a collection. Every time I buy a dress or a sari, I try to buy matching bangles. it is also considered auspicious to buy bangles when we visit temples or go on pilgrimages.  Moreover, young girls, and married women are gifted bangles on various occasions.

Well buying is one thing storing is entirely another. I had a wooden bangle stand. I can store 3 rows on each side.

Then I also used a plastic rectangular container with a lid as the wooden one was not enough. I had to use thick paper separators cut out of card stock to keep the bangles in rows.
But this was not enough. I searched for a better solution. Boxes padded with velvet were available in various sizes. They are very beautiful and colourful, some richly decorated with laces, coloured stone etc.  But the problem was that the padding was outside too. This would attract a lot of dust and maintaining them is a real headache. So now I bought these made of fiber.
This is how it looks. Made of fiber sheets. The edges are rather sharp. I need to do something about them as I hurt my fingers more than once. It also looks very fragile. I was not really satisfied with the make or the material. But my bangles will be safe from the dust. It is also easy to wipe off any dust or stains from the box. So i just went for them.
It has 6 rods made of soft plastic. I was not too sure that they would hold the weight of some heavier bangles. But I had no choice.
It has latches to close the box.
This is how I arranged my bangles, carefully managing and balancing the weight of heavier ones and taking care not to pile up all heavier one in one row.
I filled up both the boxes and my wooden stand very tightly and am still left with some more bangles. Need to buy another one.....

All in all though I am not entirely satisfied with the make or the material, the boxes perfectly fit the space in my cupboard and my budget too. All in all it was a good purchase.....

Organising Stash

Hi friends. Now that some of the renovation work has been completed, I am slowly trying to organise my things. But with busy work schedule and heavy downpour here in the past week, I could just group together some of my stash. Before renovation, I just stuffed them  in just whatever I could get. Now I need to organise them properly.

One major problem I am facing is the storage containers. It is difficult to get one exactly how I need, within my budget , that can hold all my stash and occupy less space. I feel that is almost impossible. My search is on. Heavy rains forced me to postpone my shopping trip for this.

As of now, I am just making most of the containers/storage I have as you can see...

I have some plastic boxes, in which I store my yarn, laces, ribbons, kundans and beads etc. They are good as they keep dust out. I also have some cardboard boxes, which I am still holding on till I find some good storage solutions.
These look colourful, but are not air tight. So there is the problem of dust seeping in.
Here is how I stored some of my colouring pens and pencils in a plastic container. I still have lots of paints in bottles and tubes, brushes, pens and pencils, which I need to store. For now, I have only kept these ones handy, which I use regularly.

My search is on, for some smart storage solutions. But I have to wait till the festival of Diwali is over perhaps to shop leisurely.

I have still my embroidery, kits and other stash, wooden beads, woolen yarn and much more. I also need to separate my yarn/floss/threads for tatting, embroidery and crochet....Still lots to do....

Any smart solutions? Your suggestions are welcome please.
