Happy Republic day

Hello Friends!

Today as we celebrate our Republic day, we salute our brave hearts, who sacrificed their lives serving and saving the country.

Be it army personnel, police, doctors and health workers, teachers, farmers and all the working class last but not least home makers - every one of us contributes to the building up of the Nation. Every ones contribution is important.

These are tough times. Many lost their lives, lost jobs or lost members of the family. So many small businesses and industries were shut down. Family incomes have drastically been reduced as the bread earners either lost their lives or lost their jobs. There is still confusion and uncertainty as to what the future holds for us.

Many kind hearted people have come forward to extend help. It does not matter how little the help is or in what form it is. It matters a lot to the receiver. Even if we cannot help them financially, standing by them, wiping their tears, encouraging them to come over their grief is also a big thing.

We have come across so many instances where, people helped in what ever way they could, irrespective of age, religion or region. Many instances have gone unnoticed. Such instances of kindness and empathy motivate us to do what ever we can to help our brothers and sisters.

Slowly and steadily we are all recovering. But still we need to be cautious. We need  each others support as we come out of these tough times.

We Indians can and will bravely face such tough times and come out successfully. It has been proved in the past and it will be so in the future too.

Our culture, our traditions have imbibed the qualities of resilience, kindness, tolerance, optimism, philosophical outlook and so on.

We all need to put in our efforts, in which ever way we can, in what ever form it is possible. It need not be on large scale.

I am proud of our culture, our traditions and our Nation. I am proud to be an Indian. Aren't you?

Please stay safe and healthy.

Wishing you all a Happy Republic Day.

Happy Independence Day

Wishing you all a very Happy Independence Day.

Here it has been raining non stop for the past three four days and that too heavily. So you can imagine how it is. Its also chilly.

My garden is submerged under water. I have been trying to clear the planters so that water collected in them may flow out and not damage my plants. But with such a heavy rain its of no use. I can only wait till the rain stops and then assess the damage to my plants.

Happy New Year

Hi Friends!

Hope you are all celebrating the New year with Joy and having a great time.

Wish you all Peace, Prosperity, Joy, Health and all that you want.

Have you made any resolutions for the New Year? Please do share them with me. I for one want to concentrate on getting better this year.

I also want to be more active on my blog. Last year though this was one of my resolutions, I couldn't act on it because of my ill health.

This year, I want to be more active in general and also on my blog.

I want to thank you all who have stood by me during the past years and motivated me to keep on posting on my blog even though I could not post frequently. Actually your love,  wishes and prayers have helped me in my recovery.

Thanks a lot once again. Please do keep sending in your comments and suggestions...

Congratulations to Mirabai Chanu !

I was just watching Mirabai Chanu in the CWG-2018. What a performance! It was great watching her lifting those weights so effortlessly. What a proud moment to see that an Indian woman left other competitors far behind.

Congratulations to her, She won us two Gold Medals on the first day.

Wishing her all the best and many more such achievements....

Now our sports persons are doing better and better in international events. This is what we Indians have been longing to see for so long.

Wishing our Indian team at CWG 2018 all the best in the coming events.

Greetings

Hi Friends!

Belated Greetings to all those who celebrated their New Year on 18th of this month. Hope you all celebrated it well.

We also celebrated Ugadi-our New Year on that day. It was cloudy and rained a little, a day before and on the New Year Day. So it was pleasant. We enjoyed the day, listening to all the Panchanga recitals and other programmes specially aired for the day. The highlight of-course  was the nail biting finish of the T20 match final between India and Bangladesh.

There was not much blooming of Neem. So I had tough time getting hold of the Neem flowers. Raw mangoes were also very costly and small in size. Some how I managed to get hold of them in the end. The Ugadi Chutney came out very well.

Now slowly the day temperatures are increasing. But what is surprising is that it is a bit chilly early in the morning.

Plus Two exams are over. Xth class students are writing the finals. During first week of April other classes will have their exams. So I am still busy with my students.

All of you take care...Will be back with you...

Greetings

Happy, Joyous and Fun filled Holly to all of you. Some celebrated yesterday and some are celebrating today. Be Happy and Celebrate the colourful Nature at its best in this Spring season.

Well I am back after a long time. Been busy with teaching and coaching children. I always enjoy teaching. But with children we need lots of patience and dedication. I also had to build my life all over again after a crisis which changed my life completely. I am still struggling- sometimes up and sometimes down. I still am battling. But thanks to my family and my dear friends who are with me in these difficult time. So I could not concentrate on my blog.

Now I have a break between my teaching schedules. So this time I will concentrate on my blogs and try to post. :) This is what I always think. Especially one of my New Year resolutions was to post frequently on my blogs. Well let us see what happens.

It is already hot here- unbearable. The temperatures are soaring. It is only March and Spring season. It is unusually hot at this time of year and we are also facing a water crisis. I am struggling with my garden. So what happens in peak summer -in April, May and June, we are afraid to even think about it.

Oh by the way, I have organised most of my craft materials-at least ninety percent of it. Thank God for that. It gave me something to do when I needed to keep myself occupied and filled me with some enthusiasm and creative ideas. Now I know where my various craft stuff is-all neatly organised.

One of these days I will post about my stash.

Well I am into paper crafts and have been doing some work there. So watch out for it. I will be posting.

Punch Craft Greeting Card

I am always looking forward to trying out different crafts, medias and methods for creating something new. Though I have had punch craft materials with me since long, some how I did not have time to try it. The other day(actually on New Years Eve), my niece was bored (as she finished her term exams but her friends were busy preparing for it) and to keep her occupied I pulled out my Punch Craft materials and tried it.

At first it was difficult to use the punches as they were very hard. But after punching a few times, it became easy. My niece was more interested in the papers left out after punches rather than the punched shapes.

Here is what she did with them with a little help from me. she prepared a greeting card:

She cut the edges of a thick paper with craft scissors and stuck the punched out strips of paper on it. Then she added some punched flowers. A little scrap of fabric, was edged with lace and glued on as curtain. Beneath that she wrote her message.
You can see the punched out strips here and the message.

I was happy that she was occupied for an hour or so and tried her hand creating something new.

I have the punched flowers and leafs with me. I wanted to create some thing with them. But I don't have time right now, as I am busy with cleaning my house on war footing and and preparing for the on coming festival of Sankranti.

Watch out for more paper crafts.....
